Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA) Briefing
This session is aimed at multi- agency practitioners across Sefton who encounter children, young people and families in their roles.
The session will provide an overview of Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse, supporting participants to begin to understand the complexities of CAPVA/CoPVA, who it affects and why this may be happening in some families.
Participants will:
- Gain a brief overview of the potential causal factors of CAPVA/ CoPVA and the potential risks and effects on all family members
- Recognise how CAPVA may present, static and dynamic risk factors
- Screening for CAPVA and the wider needs of the family to ensure a holistic, trauma informed and responsive approach to signposting the family for support.
